Bubble skirts are so fun and cute. Found a few good tutes here http://sewhipmama.wordpress.com/2010/01/26/the-bubble-skirt-tutorial and here http://smashedpeasandcarrots.blogspot.com/2009/11/bubble-skirt-tutorial.html and came up with my own bubble skirt. The only variation I did was a contrast waistband, and I sewed the edges together, pinching the fabric of the lining and skirt, a few inches apart to raise the skirt edges so that it has that extra wavy and bubbly effect. Alas, forgot to take pictures of these!
The skirt is made it with italian cotton, its so soft and light, simply gorgeous! I forgot to take a picture of the skirt itself, but you get the idea. The first outfit is a 2 piece top and bottom. The top is made out of linen, since I can’t find any plain cotton that has the weight I wanted and the color to match the skirt 🙂 The back is slightly curved, with button closure. As for the second garment, its a simple tube dress with the skirt attached at the hip.
Wait! There’s something extra too. Both dresses features a corsage fabric flower which can be taken off or put on at anytime. I love making these flowers, they’re fun and a good way to umph up your clothes or bags.
